Dreem
sleep optimizing wearable
Dreem is a startup based out of Paris and San Francisco that developed a technology that brings the sleep clinic to users' homes. The device uses 6 sensors positioned in strategic locations around the head and two low profile bone conductive speakers to play sounds that manipulate the brain into longer deep sleep cycles. The design had to fit all head shapes comfortably for a full night's sleep and maintain its position throughout the night. The interface consists of a touch capacitive strip for volume change and a single mode button designed to be easily located on top of the head.

Elli-Q
AI companion for aging in place
Intuition Robotics is an Israeli startup that has developed ElliQ, an AI driven robot designed to keep older adults engaged, connected and active.
The two part system consists of ElliQ, a friendly robot capable of engaging in conversation and expressing emotions using light and movement and a removable tablet for video calls and viewing content.
Cobalt
Indoor B2B security robot service
Cobalt Robotics is a Silicone Valley based B2B startup that leases autonomous security robots for office and retail spaces. Cobalt 1.0 with over 100 active robots deployed around the US. The design uses tensile fabric to cover the main volume. By doing so we were able to reduce upfront production costs, hide most sensors while maintaining functionality, allow air flow for cooling internal CPU and enable easy custom color variations and efficient refurbishing. The second version of Cobalt with updated design and improved capabilities is scheduled to launch in early 2021.
Hive View
smart indoor camera
Hive View is the second product from British Gas's sub-brand Hive. The design is based on a form language established with the Hive active heating thermostat extending the design language for a connected indoor camera system. The main camera cube is detachable and carries a 2 hour long battery for grab and go video capturing around the house. The front hides a user-controlled circular LED array that displays when the camera is changing its state and a single small, discreet light that shows whether the camera is monitoring. Infrared LEDs support recording in the dark.
Opin bags
urban bag collection
Opin is a line of bags designed for urban living and inspired by the maker movement and California lifestyle.
We wanted to create bags that can seamlessly transition from work to leisure activity. Each bag has dedicated space for work material, protected computer and tablet compartments and digital accessories as well as plenty of room and flexible carry solutions for personal items.
The collection aims to reduce waste by simplifying construction and using smart ways to achieve more by using less material.
Juicero
cold press juicing system
Despite this being one of the least popular products in Silicon Valley's history of startups, In 2014, Juicero was ahead of its time to develop and produce a connected kitchen appliance system. The design was based on applying 5 tons of pressure onto proprietary disposable filter pouches filled with organic cut veggies and fruit producing cold press juice at home with no mess. Juicero produced the machines and partnered with organic farmers throughout California to pick, transport, wash, chop and pack the pouches which were then sent to subscribers' homes.
The design is friendly with a strong presence emphasizing it's uniqueness on the market and concealing it's incredible power. Quality materials like the high grade aluminum door are left exposed and the entire interface is condensed in to a single button in its center. Behind the button are three hidden LEDs that animate when juice is dispensed.
The interior is completely water proof comprised of co-molded Tritan and silicone membrane to allow for internal movement of the press.
This ambitious project captured silicone valley’s imagination raising $120M with a cosmetic model, a semi functional prototype and a 2 person team.
Samsung Frame TV
Smart TV
The best TV would disappear when not in use because no one likes a big black rectangle in the middle of their living space. This was the starting point for the Frame TV. Since we couldn’t make it disappear we made it morph in to a beautifully framed piece of art. The 4K QLED matte finish TV uses sensors to analyze the tone and intensity of ambient light to adjust the screen accordingly and maintain a realistic effect throughout the day. The art works are part of a renewable subscription that is curated to include both established and emerging artists from across the world.
